My father had a severe stroke 3 years ago. Pretty-much useless on his right side. He is able to work my 1830 rather well, even though all important controls are on the right. It really doesn't take much effort to work them. I bought my 1830 a year ago for about $6500. The deals are out there if you look long and hard enough for them.

Of the various models to be evaluated, you might want to consider the availability of power steering (PS), if that is an issue for your friend. A neighbor had a B7100 and I think it did not have PS.

One good thing that I forgot to mention, is that his right side is fine...the surgery effected his left side more. He can also climb on the BX fairly well he said. He's been looking around some and feels like the BX style is the right height and with wheel spacers it would be even more stable. We're still looking for used ones as well...but 0% is nice too.

He shouldn't have any trouble adapting then as it is a right hand world. The brakes on my JD 2305 are on the left.

I certainly won't discourage anyone from making any tractor more stable, but both my 2200 and 2660 were/are very stable for me and I mow on some pretty steep inclines, so I wouldn't worry about operating one until you get the spacers installed.

I have a 2660 also, but I notice here in the mountains, I lift a rear tire at nothing it seems...I think it's his wife who would prefer it be as safe as possible, and I can understand that. I'm going to put them on mine too :)

Thanks to everyone for the good ideas. Does anyone have anything else good or bad to say about the Mahindra compacts.

Do you have filled or weighted tires?

Don't know anything about Mahindra, sorry.

I don't think the tires on the 2660 are filled. They did fill the ones on my 3030 though. I've been thinking about filling the 2660 tires to see if it would help.

I looked around the 2660 today and figured a tubular grab rail could be bolted to the frame with some sort of additional step tied in to it if need be. Just having a strong "hand rail" of sorts would mean alot.

hahnderosa...I believe you're right about the 7100. He would need power steering...heck I need power steering! It's hard to do without it once you're used to it.
