A Little Help

I pulled the trigger today on the Deere 1026R. Got it with the FEL (H120), 7 Iron MMM with quick disconnect, 647 Tiller, Front Blade with hyd lift and angle, Box Scraper for my 350 ft. gravel driveway and the iMatch for the 3 point. Spent a bit more than I intended but when Deere went to 60 months and $500.00 incentive over the weekend I couldn't pass it up. $23,120.00 out the door. Tractor with loader and mower and the tiller are in stock but I was told it would take a week to 10 days to the blade and the scraper. I told him just to deliver it all at one time. I'll post pictures when it gets here.

Not sure if these would matter to you but they would be things I would look at.

1. Do they have a quick attack/detach loader or not I get tired of carring it around when not needed.
2. Do they have the quick attack bucket at least, in case you would want different attachments in the future make note that the JD would have their own style QH that only their own equipment works on which cost more.
3. Do you or do you not need the little bit of extra HP that the NH and the Max have. I guess the max is to far away right.
4. Do all of the dealers have a good reputation or is one better.
5. Look into the drive over mower on the JD, I think I remember there being a thread on here about there being some kind of issue I can't remember what it was just something I saw mentioned it may be a complete non issue but it never hurts to ask. (side note I do not have any problem what so ever with JD my uncle has several of them they are good tractors just remember seeing something)
6. Also what color do you like the best, take that any way you want either the manufacturer or simply the color of the tractor because lets face it they are all really good trtactors!

JD uses a crappy yanmar motor.. Kubota makes all their own stuff

Nope I'm just sayin... Deere is over rated. Not starting a color war here, it's just coming from my experiences.

Nice setup! I think you'll be quite happy with it, but quick attach forks would be nice too. I've really wanted a set myself for the past six months, but it's always hard to part with that dough. Good job getting the 54 quick hitch blade with your initial purchase, I really like mine. It's another one of those things that would be hard to lay out the cash for later. The Deeres really do have more of a refinement to them, despite what others may say. Yes, even the crappy 3TN76V engine is a good runner. Mine got much smoother at 50 hours when the break in oil was changed out for 15W-40.

XSKIER, thanks! I see you're in Michigan. Hope we have enough snow this winter so I can play with that blade. I know what you mean about getting the implements up front. It's much easier to handle when the cost is spread out over 60 interest free months. Couldn't have gotten the blade or the scraper without that happening. Glad I held off for the extra week.

As for Yanmar they make diesels up to almost 2000hp and their marine engines are in some of the finest yachts in the world. I expect that engine to be running as long as I do. Not to mention that Yanmar has been supplying diesels to Deere for 30 years. If there were problems that relationship would have ended long ago.

I have three neighbors with Kubotas, one is an 2010 or 11 2660 so I can make a reasonably objective comparison and I chose the 1026. And I know plenty of farmers down in these parts that swear by Deere.

BTW XKIER, I discovered your YouTube videos. Fun to watch. In any of the snow you've moved did you find yourself needing tire chains or has the FWD been sufficient to handle things?

Just rambling now. When Deere went to 60 months I started to waffle on the limits I set for myself and actually went in to the dealer and started to switch from the 1026R to the 2520. I started talking through what I would be doing and by time I was done I opted to stick with the 1026 and add the front blade, the box scraper along and the iMatch for the hitch. But it's going to bother me until the 1026 is delivered and I focus my attention on using it. Based on past experience I'll forget all about the buying process and be completely happy with the one I bought. And if I'm not I'll tip my hat to the guys who said go bigger, they can say I told you so and then I'll go about finding a way to get something bigger.

I will bet that you are going to be happy with your purchase! You sound like the type that takes a while to make up his mind, but once done- doesn't look back!

Hi Frank,

You're probably right. I'll take delivery as soon as the box scraper and from blade show up at the dealer. I'll post pictures as soon as I have it.
