A little humor about the midwest

/ A little humor about the midwest #21
Yeah, none of that midwest-mideast stuff ever made sense to me, I lived all my life in the Chicago suburbs and we refer to everything as "down there", unless its Wisconsin, then we refer to it as cheese land, or somthin to that effect. I would declare where i live north central, but thats just if I had my way

Most folks in sw Indiana consider Indiana to be in midwest. Though if it 90% of state doesn't change time with the rest of country, would it only be in the midwest during the summer?

Living here all my life, for me it is easier to use: Over east, out west, up north, down south.

Let me add one:

20. That long black thing you drove here on is called a highway. It is not a parking lot for you to stop in the middle of to watch the deer.

Having grown up in the mid-west ( Northern MN west of the Mississippi ), I always thought of the mid-west as including the Dakotas.

I think the origins of the term "mid-west" might have considered Ohio and such in the term because in the latter half of the 1800's when the "Wild West" was being tamed, the West they were talking about included the Dakotas and Wyoming.

Grant that is so true! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I've had people say the same things to me. My favorite is a women who asked where I was from and when I replied "Iowa" she got excited and said " Canadian! How wonderful!" she thought I was from Ottawa

Pitbull,
I heard a lady in Boston a while back and she was discussing how a young man was doing at one of those midwestern universities. It took me a while but I finally figured out she was talking about Syracuse!

Grant,

Now that is funny. Since I live near Syracuse. People see NY License Plates and think we are all from NYC. They forget that there is an Upstate NY part. Syracuse University has alot of well to do kids, but for the price tag it makes one wonder how much they really get.

My ex-fiance was a grad student there and I can tell you the Teachers Asst. did more teaching that the Proffessor did. Kind of sad considering her two years there were not cheap.

Amazing how a joke can turn into a discussion about where the midwest actually is/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.
