I ended up with valvoline's 720 UTF at 45$ per 5 gallons and delo400 at 8.5$ per gallon. This was from NAPA where I know it costs a little more than walmart but the owner of the store is a local. I forgot about the 90 weight. No biggy. Wait till you see what I'm using for a drain pan, a fancy stainless steel flower pot.

How much was the other hydro filter. The one mounted near the floor?

Just under 11 bucks. Cheapy. The engine oil filter was just over 7$. The 40$ filter was the bugger and of course the one that is prone to smashing. They were all painted the right colors too.

Speaking of 50 Hr service. What would be a fair price for a dealer to do the complete service on a CK30 HST?

Well I can tell you 60$ for filters, 120$ for oil, plus say 20 bucks for gear oil, so 200$ in parts and then get out there and do it. Hired out is going to be at least double that but I would guess 500$.

I can relate to this. Last week I had a stick bend my hydraulic filter bracket on My Branson 3510i. It bent the bracket and pulled off a hose so lost 5 gallons of fluid. Only 10 hours on it so couldn't do my 50 hour change.

I did the 50 hour service last night at 45 hours. Only thing left is the front axle lube. All three filters were only removable with a wrench. I used the kind of wrench that is 3-4 segments of serrated steel that pinch together when the handle is levered. Anyway, the engine oil was very simple and carlike. All drain plugs use rubber washers and are not torqued very hard. The rear end fluid was a bit interesting. The main drain plug is a big ol' magnet and getting it threaded back in took awhile. The 7 gallons of fluid drains out very quickly. My flower pot receptacle was quickly getting filled but stopped with about 2 inches to spare. I was standing ready with the drain plug just in case.

The hardest part in the whole job is holding the 5 gallon pails of UTF while filling the funnel to refill the rear end. My funnel's bottom opening is only about 1/2" so I can't pour too quickly.

I am confident that the filter didn't rupture internally with the pictured damage. The filter is built with a large void in the center and a thin filter media layer around the perimeter that would allow mucho deformation without rupture.

Tomorrow I will box blade most of the day. I am bringing the left over lube to top up as necessary. The 50 hour service is no harder than a lube job. High quality tractor time.
