I found this on an automotive forum...

This was forwarded to me from someone at VWoA:
This picture is real - not doctored in anyway - and was taken last week in Waldorf by a Transportation Supervisor for a company that delivers building materials for 84 Lumber. When he saw it in the parking lot of IHOP, he went and bought a camera to take pictures.

The car is still running as can be witnessed by the exhaust. A woman is either asleep or otherwise out in the front seat passenger side. The guy driving it was over jogging up and down on Rt. 925 in the background. The witnesses said their physical state was OTHER than normal and the police just shook their heads in amazement. The driver finally came back after the police were there and was getting down at the back to cut the 'twine around the load. They told him to get back until it was taken off.
The materials were loaded at Home Depot. Their store manager said they had the customer sign a waiver!
Both back tires are trashed. The back shocks were driven up through the floorboard. In the back seat were 10 bags, 80 lbs. each of concrete. On the roof are many 2X4s, 4X4s and sheets of OSB. They estimated the load weight at 3000 lbs. The car is a VW Jetta with FL plates and the guy said he was headed for Annapolis.

JUST UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

Boy, after buying all that stuff you think he would of spent a few more dollars on a small trailer! Of which they do sell at Home Depot? Takes all kinds!

I assume that this happened in Maryland (given the Annapolis, Waldorf and Rt 925, which runs through Waldorf, references). The distance between the two cities is about 40 miles. You can rent a truck right at any Home Depot for $19 for the first 75 minutes (I don't know what additional time cost is). Estimate 50 minutes each way for the trip. Allow thirty minutes for unloading (HD starts the clock after the rental truck is loaded). That would be 130 minutes total. So I guess that by not renting the truck, he 'saved' about $39 (guessing $20 for the additional hour). Let me add this… the plate reference indicated that this is one of our many imported loonies… as if don't have enough of our own homegrowns.

Waiver or not, Home Depot was irresponsible to so obviously overload this vehicle.

At least he didn't try and add air to the back tires.

Make one wonder at time. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Thanks for sharing that Muhammad.

Too Funny. This guy is a candidate for the "Darwin Award 2000", but I think you have to die to be considered.

This reminds me of a similar overload picure of a Donkey pulling a two wheel cart. The cart was really loaded high and had tipped backwards. The Donkey was suspended by the harness from the front of the cart.

The title was "How to tell if your [censored] is to Big" /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

To look at the pic, I would have to seriously state that it appears that said individuals 'cheese has slipped off his cracker'!
Wonder how much structural damage as well as body damage was caused by the load.

I worked at HD for a bit. Have never seen a car packed like this. BUT, if someone were to pack a car like this I know the man who would do it...his name is Gawain Thomas and he works at the Woodstock, GA Home Depot. He would consider this "Situation Normal". He must have been in Maryland on vacation......Naaaaa, it couldn't have been Gawain, he would never have asked for a waiver.
