Tillers are wonderful impliments. If you get one, you'll be glad you did.
How big is a Deere 3120? For small to medium sized tractors, the KingKutter is a gear drive that comes in 4', 5', and 6' models, at least, and maybe bigger. Perhaps, they are not the "cadillac", but they're tough and a good value for the money, in my opinion.
By the way, most tillers are made in Italy (including the KK), as I understand it. As you shop around, you may well find the same tiller relabeled for a variety of vendors.

Guess the " Best " would depend on your final choice. There are just too many good tillers out their to pick one as being Best.

Check with different dealers to determine the size required for your soil and use conditions and enjoy shopping.

There are some items, like being able to cover tractor tracks, side shift capability and slip clutch to be considered.

Have you looked at the CCM gear drive tillers? They are well built, not all that expensive, and customer service is good. Several TBN'ers have them and are satisfied.

Give Mark Carter (CCI) a call, you won't be sorry.

Sorry to step on the post, but I think its related.

Egon,

With a slip clutch can you get one with a overrunning clutch,or would it have to be changed out every time you use it? Thanks

Most of tiller gearboxes (including KK) and their tines are made in China.

By the way, in USA, if we rank the quality tillers according to their origins, I guess, Made in Turkey comes first.

I have the KK 48" (not the estate line). This things breaks up anything. I use mine with my BX23 and it does fine. I have not to date used it at full throttle, not even needed for what I have done.

You don't need an overrunnin' clutch with a tiller, the dirt will stop the blades. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm not sure what you are asking about and overunning clutch.
You would not need an overunning clutch for a tiller.
The slip clutch mounts on the gearbox/PTO shaft of the tiller.
If the tiller hits a solid object the clutch will slip and protect the tiller and tractor from damage.
And No it does not need replaced each time you use it.
