A Puzzle to tell you if you are subject to Alzheimer's disease

I am very sensitive to the condition of Alzheimer's and I don't mean to offend anyone. Currently I am watching my father slip into the clutches of this horendous disease and I don't find any of it humorous or glib. (Not saying any of you guys do! Brin, tests like that are a great tool to help people seek early treatment)

Guess I am just overly sensitive as I just found out from my mother that dad is going on hospice. Sorry for the "mini" rant.

JD ~ I sure did not intend to make light of Alzheimer's...my wife emailed me this puzzle since it was sent to her as a great tool to detect the disease early...My mother and father in law both suffered from Alzheimer's disease and it was awful...I pray for all the best for you, you Dad and your family and I hope everyone uses the test to get an idea of where they stand.

I meant no offense. I feel your pain and you and your father are in my prayers.

Candidly, nothing, not cancer nor doomsday scenarios scare me as much a Alzheimer's. My whole adult life has been totally focused on using my brain (and I tend to have an excellent memory) for my career and basically everything I do. This disease is very scary, and unfair.

Please forgive me if I offended you sir.

David, As I mentioned both my mother and father in law got Alzheimer's disease...first my mother in law and when it began she would forget things and she would make a joke out of it ...she would make fun of herself and did so for a couple of years...then it began to get worse and of course the humor faded away.....my father in law's onset was much more sudden and happened about a year after my mother in law passed away..

I really think we have to deal with the threat of these diseases and maladies with some bit of humor or we will all go crazy...I mean, we are bombarded with TV and Radio commercials about Cancer, MS, Cholesterol, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Strokes, heart attacks etc. ...so to me it is a choice of either find a little soothing humor or just sit a cry...because we are all doomed...since I am a positive person...I choose to not take all of life so seriously as to not be able to enjoy what time I have....

I still say...Pharmaceutical companies should not be allowed to advertise on TV or Radio....

I'm very sorry to hear about your father.

I take the disease very seriously and know it is an awful thing, but the way I see it is if you don't have a light hearted laugh about something, you would end up being depressed.

I didn't mean to offend anyone by making light of this terrible disease. I watched my father slip into it before he passed on about ten years ago. To me it is one of those things that if you don't laugh at it you'll cry. Believe me, I think about it every time I misplace my keys, stumble with someones name, or walk into a room and forget why I went in there.
I hope you and your family find the strength you'll need to deal with your fathers condition. Alzheimer's takes a terrible toll on both the sufferer and those closest to them. Again, sorry if my post came thru as insensitive.

Thanks for the test. It was pretty easy. My mother died of this and I will probably get it since my memory has never been good. I read a study summary that indicated that people with bad memories have a better chance of getting it. But at least the test gave me some hope I am OK for now. This is a bad illness and the families suffer as much as the person with it.

That's not too good for me then, as I suffer from serious CRS!

I often go to the kitchen or bathroom and forget why I went there, or load up the internet then forget what website I was going to go onto (TBN of course!)

I think worrying about it makes it worse though, so I'll continue to have a laugh at myself when I do something like the above, and pray it never develops into anything worse than being a klutz.
