Talked to a friend today who has larger FWD tractor around 65 hp, think he said MF, in the family. Brother was having concrete poured and the truck got stuck, they asked if they could use the tractor to get it moving. Still unclear how they let this happen, but the concrete guys hooked the chain around the front axle of the tractor and tried to pull in reverse. Broke the axle right off the frame of the tractor.

They haven't looked real close at what is going to be required for a solid fix. And people wonder why I'm a little protective of my tractor!

Like I have read many times on TBN, use the draw bar, it is the strongest point on the tractor designed for pulling things. Sounds like an expensive and hard way to learn.

Exactly. That tractor had one all set for pulling. The guys on the concrete truck didn't know what they were doing apparently. I can't believe he let them just take the tractor.

Wouldn't let anyone borrow my tractor, and for sure wouldn't let a person stuck borrow it, and for DanG sure wouldn't let a concrete truck driver who is stuck borrow it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And as was well said, that is what the drawbar is for.

Hope he gets it paid for by the truck driver and his liability insurance.

I'd bet there was some jerking going on, which is how things usually get broken. Back up and get a run at it, shocking the utter crap out of everything connected to the truck.

Where i work, we engineers have a bit of a private saying..." stupid is expensive"..

In this case.. I'd guess the concrete truck driver was pretty uh... expensive... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Too bad the casualty was the tractor... the innocent one of the group..

I have a feeling it was the concrete contractor who asked to use the tractor not the driver of the truck. As soon as the mixer leaves the road it is the contractors responsibility.Sorry to here about the tractor. Hope the contractor has insurance.

You got it - they were trying to pull the truck in reverse back to where they needed to get the cement, the driver was in the cab of the truck and could not see the tractor or how it was hooked up.
