I had a 1985 Ingersoll 448 with the 18hp Onan and 60" mower for 10 years, I got it with 450hrs. The tractor was a great garden tractor, like all the others said. It was fairly indestructible, Onan motor was great. The only real gripes I had with the tractor was it didn't have differential lock and it didn't lift the the mower completely off the ground, so it got in the way if you went into the woods or the garden with it.
However the mower deck was a real P.I.T.A., I wasn't all that fond of the snow blower either, I had it's occasional reoccurring problems too that would have me working on it in the dead of winter. After the 600hr mark I was constantly pouring time and money into the mower. The mower was also was a real pain to get on and off the tractor. So I just hated the mower. I wasn't to sad to see the whole thing go. I sold it with 1200hrs and the engine still had 135psi compression and burned no oil. Did I mention it had a great engine!
Last year I got a used Kubota BX, and I couldn't be happier with the tractor and mower. I really love the diesel and the 4wd, a much better designed tractor and mower deck. I just start it and use it, wife loves it too, but she didn't mind the Ingersoll either (she never worked on it). Her only complaint about the Kubota was the Ingersoll with it's tall rear tires rode smother over our mole hill/hole laden lawn.
