A spot for 2\" ball??

Does the BX have a hitch surface to mount a 2" ball? Or do you use a draw bar? If a draw bar what is the spread on the 3pt? The smallest draw bar at the fleetfarm is 26"

Re: A spot for 2\' ball??

You had me scared with the title. I wondered what your would pull with a two foot ball?/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif I see you are needing a 2 inch ball by the body of your post. As I understand it you should never tow anything, except with the drawbar. Your owner's manual has a section on this that includes maximum weights, etc.

Be careful towing with a draw bar as well. It will spin on you and you might lose whatever you're pulling. You should get a draw bar lock or if you can weld you can make your own. This is a photo of one someone on this board made. If you do a search there is a thread about them. Good luck!

Re: A spot for 2\' ball??

Fleetfarm sells the draw bar and the locks. Will the 26" fit a BX? I don't have the tractor or manual yet . But I want to pick some thing up this weekend so I'm ready to work once I get the tractor.

g42guy,

The 26" will fit. That's the standard for cat. I. You may need to loosen up the turnbuckles to do it. You should be able to find a cat 0 drawbar (20") with cat I pins on it. I'm pretty sure I've seen them at Tractor Supply.

Re: A spot for 2\" ball??

The BX will accomadate a 32 inch draw bar. It will be tight but it works fine. The 3-point can accomadate more width but it can be diffucult to install. There is also a hitch point provided under the PTO. For example, my Heard spreader is 32 inch draw bar and it has spent many hour on the BX. Go ahead and get it but you will need a anti rotation device such as described in the posts above. J

Northern tool has something similar in their recent catalog for just under 200 dollars for those who do not want to purchase a welder. J

Re: A spot for 2\" ball??

Leinbach Machinery in Winston-Salem, NC manufactures and sells one identical to the one in the Northern catalog. My Leinbach cost $69.50. Leinbach does not have a web site, but they will mail or fax to you a picture of theirs. Their telephone number is (336) 924-4115. Very good people to deal with.
