Just erected a steel building and now to do the front wall. Want to do it with vinyl siding. But not sure what to do with the J trim or just tuck the siding under the front trim pieces. Guess where some of the issue starts is the starter strip should hang below the wood framing but the front steel trim will not allow this . I am sure someone here will be able to assist .

What steel trim are you referring to?
If you are just framing in on either side of the garage door opening you should be able to hang the starter strip down over the concrete. They sell extra wide starter strip too. I would go with the J channel, I think it looks more finished.

There is an L shaped trim that is mounted to the last arch Hard to see in the pic but the sign is attached to it Will get better pics tomorrow. The 2x6 wall and boarding goes behind this trim piece to prevent weather from entering.

So here are a few pics The starter strip should extend below where the wood wall will be to shed the water The bottom edge of the siding will have to clip in to the starter strip but it will not beable at the edge because the metal is in the way.

Hello Razorbackq, I couldn't read all of your thread as I'm suppose to be at work... But I purchased a similar building over a year ago. Due to various circumstances I couldn't put it up, or even look at the kit. I do want to get it up soon due to fear there may be parts missing and such...How long did it take you to build it? I didn't look at the blueprints.....you put the mounting kits directly to your cement while still drying? Thanks for any info you may have.

Vroom ..... I used the base plates They are attached with wedge anchors after the concrete is hard. It took 2 people 5 days 25x 30. Just couldn't lift the full arches into position 7 pieces to an arch . We installed 2 and 2then 1,1and the peak.
A group can built them on the weekend. Its scary in the wind .
Be sure to use chalking everywhere as my base plates inside fill up every rain fall. Not been very nice outside to hunt down the leaks.

Ok. Scary in the wind while building you mean? If you could have lifted the full arch can you put it together that way? I think mine is roughly the same size as well. I haven't looked at the blue prints and assembly procedures.. I know that the whole garage fit on a trailer...which is why I would have liked to have put it together sooner but have had a very bad year and it sat there since the fall on the trailer. Really would like to put it together.

Install a treated 2x8 to the floor, be sure to caulk it good. Then install a 2x6 on top of the first one set back about 1and 1/2" to alow for your 1/2" plywood, house wrap and siding.

Frame and sheet your wall. Before installing siding, install flashing at the base, 4" up wall, 1" over exposed 2x8 and 3" down to cover the front edge of the 2x8 and concrete .

Then install your starter strip and siding, this should keep your wall behind the factory trim

One trick with vinyl j channel is to heat it up. Once you do it'll be very flexible and can be bent. I used a kerosine heater "salamander" blowing into a steel pipe with the j channel in it.

That's pretty darn smart!
