That's pretty darn smart!

Just don't get it too hot, don't ask how I know. It'll cool pretty quickly so you kind of need to move fast but I was able to put J channel around the 6' wide half circle living room window.

Install a treated 2x8 to the floor, be sure to caulk it good. Then install a 2x6 on top of the first one set back about 1and 1/2" to alow for your 1/2" plywood, house wrap and siding.

Frame and sheet your wall. Before installing siding, install flashing at the base, 4" up wall, 1" over exposed 2x8 and 3" down to cover the front edge of the 2x8 and concrete .

Then install your starter strip and siding, this should keep your wall behind the factory trim

Dave
Never thought of a flashing . Great answer!:) One other way I thought of was to..... where the siding is thin and flat slide that into the opening between the trim and concrete . It will extend down like a flashing beyond the concrete edge.

Why not just install the 2x8 back from the edge Then install a bent flashing for an even siding install level with the concrete and even with the front.

The first 2x8 would alow you to cover the metal base frame at the bottom of both side walls.

After thinking about it Dave ..... Are you trying to get the starter strip higher then the anchor plate so no notching of the siding?
If so that's going to look odd . I siding should be at least level or lower then the pad.

Yes that is what I was trying to explain, sorry for any confusion.

Most siding j channels require 3/4" - 1" space, if you were to place it behind the buildings existing trim.

If you used flashing to match your siding it would look allright. The bottom face of the siding would be even with the flashing covering the 2x8 and concrete. And would also cover the base on the sides. All you would see is 3" flat surface of the flashing.

It would be dificult to notch the siding, to fit around the base and be water tight. You would still have to flash around the base frame.

To bad the existing trim was not 1" longer than the slab, that would resolve any issue.

Again I was thinking of white flashing as that's all I have but you're right if the flashing matched the siding it would not be seen.
Thanks for the input.

Going to have to go with your idea Dave with the 2x8 as the contractor didn't set the bolts in far enough. They are set at 1 1/2" to 2" . Once I set back the wall with siding and boarding there was nothing to bolt down.

Will you be heating the building or is this for storage? Is the back wall steal?

Keep the pics coming. Thanks for sharing your build.
