i posted a while back i wanted a tractor to work on to hone my skils and knowledge, well i got one.... the 5105 i already had. since i got the hydraulics back online i started movin dirt to get it staged before it gets to wet here, i noticed some flop in the bucket but wasn't overly concerned, figured it was just a broken pin in the rod that ties the mounts together to compensate for difference in cylinder speed. no suck luck, the weld ( or cast ) that ties the cylinder end to the mounting block was broke almost as clean as if it was cut with a band saw. thanks to all the guys who encouraged me through my last need to weld i had her back to movin dirt in under half an hour. i had my wife feather the joy stick to get it back in position so i didnt even need to try yo clamp it, tacked two sides( after cleaning and taking the paint off ) took the block out and used a peice of pipe to prop it up to make it easier to weld, less than one 7018 and i was back in buissiness. this was mid mornin, moved dirt til dusk that day and most of the next with no more problems. thanks to all the fellas who responded to my other posts!!! it has been a real confidence builder and i really appreciate it. now for a question, does any one know if the cylinder rod is welded to the mounting block at the bucket end or cast as one peice? there was no visible sign of being welded outside or in the break and the one edge that did not break perfectly clean was pourus and looked like cast pot metal.
thanks guys.
