I use the BX for spraying the cherries, red curants and the strawberries, and for mowing between them. Mowing between the strawberries is a 6 kilometer drive...

Ya but that's not in a year but many years ;) Good old machine though. It's used as an ice resurfacer now.

You're a good Canadian Paul! Repurposing a Kubota into an ice resurfacer!! I love it! I grew up in Saskatchewan but now live in New Hampshire. I still play hockey & coach as well.

Wow! My BX25 is 15 months old and has 110 hours so far. I guess mine will be the equivalent of a car being owned by a little old lady and only driven to church on Sunday when compared to your BX. I haven't used mine for mowing yet, still use the old JD 210 garden tractor to do around 4 acres. I love any kind of seat time. Time all to myself, away from the TV, phone, dog, wife. nice!

Wow, it sounds like you put it to some good use.

Mine just turned over a 100 today. It is not quite a year old. My dealer was surprised when I came back to get the stuff for the 50hr service for both of mine. He thought I was getting it ahead of time.

While I was returning a stump grinder to the rental shop the other day I got talking to one of the guys who works there. I asked them how many tractors they rent out. He said they had two and both were Kubota BX25's. he said they'd never use anything else.
I asked him how reliable they were and he said very reliable. He also said you have to remember that half the guys who rent these machines never operated one before and the other half is contractors who put them through their paces.
He said they get 2-4 calls a season saying the machine is tipped over and they go over tip them back up and they start. In the summer months they are always out working. They rent them for $220 per day each. I asked him what kind of hours are they getting out on them and he replied " we don't keep them beyond 5000 hours, its got nothing to do with the engine or tranny, its all because they are beat up so bad".

Now you guys do the math. 5000 hours and $220 a day rental

Works out to a minimum of 625 8 hour "rental days" and $137,500 in rental income...
If the average person puts 6 hours per day on it, that works out to 833 rentals for $183,260 in income
If the average person puts 4 hours per day on it, that works out to 1250 rentals for $275,000 in income
That's a lot of dough...

You took him literally when he said to do the math! :)

I miss my little BX...it was a great machine, I just needed something bigger. I used it mostly for mowing and blading a little snow. Took me 10 years to put 420 hours on it. I wish I could have afforded to keep it AND get my new JD, but, 2 tractors isn't in the cards right now.

Hi,

I want to give an update on the hours!
It's now the second year I've used the tractor. The clock is at 785 hours at the moment.
Tractor is still running great, however this year I had to change the fuel filters 3 times.
This year we didn't use the tractor as many hours as last year.
I changed some implements so I could do several jobs in one pass.
