We had goats in our page wire fenced pastures and it wasn't what was in the pasture that mattered, but what was on the other side...the taller alpine would stand on the bottom strands and buckle the wire to graze bushes outside the fence. Little kids and boers with horns could be prevented from getting stuck in the fence by duct taping a little stick or section of plastic pipe between the horns.

I think electric is a good fence.

Our 2 male goats would eat multiflora rose bushes like crazy.....then they would look past the fence and see tasty new planted trees and flowers in the yard. Extra stand of barbed wire under the cow fence helped a little. They cleared along the fence rows but only up to standing on their hind feet height. The 2 would put on a great head butting show for any visitors and liked to show off by peeing on their own face.
