Thanks for the Info ! I should have been more specific. The smoke is coming from the engine exhaust as the momentum load from the deck lugs down the RPM's. When engage at 2800 rpm it drops to about 2000, then comes back up. I looked at it a little closer under operation ( carefully) and the left spindle seems to be vibrating slightly. Well I need to put a fresh set of blades on it anyway , I guess i'll tear it down and have a look.

I just tried engaging the MMM on my 755 as you did for a comparison. RPM set at 2800, engaged PTO, RPM briefly drops to around 2100 and returns to about 2700. Needle movement is continuous in its drop and return. I do not get any smoke so there may be something going on with your engine (fuel quality/type, air filter) that it smokes under load. By the way, the manual for the MMM suggest engaging the PTO at the "one-third speed position" then increasing throttle to "Fast" position once MMM is running.
