Really unfortunate but I'm about ready to give up on the Pat's that was built for my M7040.

I got a Meteor 74" drive forward blower delivered yesterday and I was surprised to find that the thing is simply not firmly planted on the ground but has a tendency to lean back with minimal force applied to the front of it.

I found that even after I aligned the Pat's hooks perfectly, once I lifted the 3PT arms, instead of locking in the pins, they just served to tip the blower back.

Not really a problem with the Pat's but the blower I have. I guess I could modify it to prevent it from doing this but I'm wondering if isn't just as easy to stop using the Pat's given the lovely slider and adjustable arms. Besides, it looks like I'll be adjusting the width of the arms to go from cat 1 to 2 from time to time anyway as this blower is setup nicely for cat 2.

The other thing I am finding on this tractor is that with the cab it is kinda tough to perfectly line up the hooks so that I can see them so I can lift up at the right time. Using the telescopic slider would allow me to get it close and still hook up.

I guess I ought to try without the Pat's and see how that goes. Otherwise, I'm going to have to put something behind this darned blower to prevent it from tipping over when the slightest upward pressure is applied by the hooks to the pins.

If anyone has better ideas please let me know!

Try lining up the Pat's first and leave the hooks under the blower's lift pins. Second, hook up the top link. Next, raise the Pat's and hook up. It is out of the usual order but should work if the blower has a top link attachment (not familiar with it).

I had the same problem with my implements when my Pat's was new. Once the mechanism is used a few times and the paint wears a little, it will clip in with very little force at all. In other words, the hitch will latch easier than the implement will roll back. Once locked in, if the implement wants to roll back before you get the top link on, you just pull forward real easy.

Stick with it. Break them in - you'll love them!

Got a photo of the unit? Can you park it on a slight hill or use a 2x4 to make it less likely to tip?

For me, I would just use the telescopic sliders for awhile to see how well they work. I think they would work fine for you since you have to do the Top Link & PTO anyway.

I used to love my old Pats I had on my L3400. I'll give this one some grease before I give up on it and see if I can wear it a bit. Maybe some support for the blower will help as well.

I am probably the only person who isn't fascinated with PATS. I prefer the adjustable links; not sure I could even find my two sets anymore.

How about lifting a bit, letting the snowblower tip slightly (assuming it doesn't fall over immediately) and then getting out and giving it a shove so it clips?

I expect that would work. Let me give the little finessing a shot.

Why would you need Pats when you have the telescoping arms. Looks redundant to me. But if you want to stick with them, just do as suggested, first hook up the top link, that will keep it from tilting back then raise the lift arms to lock on. You could adjust them to fit perfectly using the telescoping action while on the ground and also hook up the pto then you could just lift and go.

I don't have Pat's quick hitch but I know what you mean about the blower tipping back. Try putting a 2x4 under the back of the blower. The sides of the blower box on mine is formed up so it allows it to tip, but a 2x4 or so holds it in place.

Or park it against something.
