Its a matter of balance, not much pressure to tip over the blower backwards.

I don't have Pat's quick hitch but I know what you mean about the blower tipping back.

GPintheMitten - do you have the same blower? If it wierd for any implement to not be planted firmly on the ground when you park it on a level surface. It is rather dangerous if you ask me!

My tiller is a royal pain. It wants to roll forward. The stand is almost useless.

My rake doesn't have a stand so it won't even come out of the Pat's unless I drop the tongue on a block of wood.

I guess you don't have a tiller, is right!!! And they have a rounded bottom ;) I have to use blocks to keep it from rolling around... and yes, it is dangerous.

I don't know if it was made by Meteor or not. It is an old Kubota 60" blower that started out as a front blower (or so I'm told) and converted by a previous owner to rear 3pt.

Here's a couple of pics of when I was refurbishing it. It might be hard to see because neither pic is of the side view straight on, but the box housing is cut up at about a 45 degree angle. It also is about 2 inches higher than the cutting edge. With the cutting edge back from the opening maybe about 5 or 6 inches. So it is not as stable as I would like. Especially when I was working on it.

The skids are toward the pto end so that also makes it less stable than it would be if they were directly below the center of gravity.

But I found while working on it, if I put a 2x4 under the box sides where the angle is, it helped to support it and made it a lot more stable.

I guess this is what I meant about the 2x4.

You will have to click on the Attached Thumbnail to see where I sketched in a 2x4 and you may have to zoom in afterward as well.

Hope this helps.

I agree, it sure doesn't take much. Mine was designed and made many years ago. They may have a better plan now. Of course, mine was originally a front blower so it may not have been an issue before it was cut chopped and rebuilt.

Guess I'm not the only guy that has an implement that will tip over easily!
