On a different post, Buck (EFC) was in Japan at a tractor yard and saw a tractor with a seized engine and tranny. How can anyone ruin an engine after the tranny is seized? That did not happen simultaneously. That was two incidents.

I can see it happening where a major break in the transmission locks up the gear drive and at the same time immediately stopping the crank shaft at high RPM. The crank can break and/or rods can stretch and snap.

Could it be that they were seized from sitting so long with water in them?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I suspect you nailed it, Eddie, seized from rust after sitting for a long time.

Engine was locked up, transmission was full of water and mud. Back tires would not turn. Description written in Japanese was rear tranny failure. ran PTO water pump, engine failed. So I would guess after the tranny went out that they hooked it up to a pump and ran it till it finally died.
