About to pull the trigger on a used BX2230... couple questions

It shuts off just by getting up from the seat? It should only do that if something is running, like mower PTO or rear PTO. If nothing is engaged it shouldn't shut down, you should be able to get on and off while doing loader work.

On mine, sometimes it will want to stop when I get up and I find I have to move the PTO engage lever - move it back toward on position a bit (not enough to even engage) and back to full off. I'll give it a bit of a push to the off position. I need to clean the switch up a bit so it doesn't do that - had to do it before. You might try that.

Interesting, I'll have to experiment and ensure I have it in neurtral and that the PTO is fully disengaged.

HST needs to be in neutral when you get up as well. A lot of times I just start my BX by standing on the ground, no need to sit (if all levers are in neutral)

My main gripe is I tend to get off the tractor to do this or that quite often and hate to have to shut it off and start it back up all the time.

I guess I'll have to do some reading. I assume the front diff is generally low? I had intended to do a full service myself shortly to ensure everything is as it should be and get a good baseline for things.

A number of folks on here have said that their front diff showed low after using the tractor for a while. The consensus seemed to be that it had been filled at setup time, but there may have been some air pockets or something in the gearing that bubbled to the top with some use. They had to top it off to get it full. Some said they did that a couple of times before it stabilized at full. I did not personally have that experience, but a number of others have.

Then there are also a number of folks that have done their service on the front diff and, after draining, found that when re-filling it wouldn't seem to take all the fluid that it should hold according to the spec. Basically, ended up doing the same thing - using it for a while, checking and topping off, etc.

When I changed my front diff fluid I followed the instructions very closely, slightly jacking up each side, adding fluid, etc. Mine seemed to have no trouble taking the correct amount right in, and have not had it drop since.

It is something you should check in case it is low from it's last service. When you do change out the fluid on your planned full service, this is something to be aware of...

Our BX2660 will start and keep running without anyone in the seat (with the range selector in gear) as long as the HST pedal is in neutral.

With BX2200 the range selector (Hi or Lo) must be in neutral or no go. The HST pedal is in neutral normally until you select forward or reverse direction.

My seat must have gotten really abused by the previous owner. I've found that if I get off and leave it in gear, most of the time the spring will not push it up high enough to cut out. As I actually hop off though, the seat will bounce and so I find myself turning around and grabbing the seat to stop the bounce and then it stays running.
