AC glitches

I'm wondering if your just a little low on refrigerant. Without hooking up a set of gauges it's hard to tell. One good indication is that the compressor used left over "cold" in the lines for internal cooling. The larger of the two lines going into the compressor coming from the cab should be cold to the touch with the system operating for a while. And by cold I mean like the inside of your refrigerator. Careful touching as the small line will be hot enough to burn your hand and there are belts in the vicinity. You want to keep away from the front of the compressor with the pulley on it. If you don't want to touch anything you can read temperatures with an infrared thermometer. They aren't that expensive.

It appears that the charge and compressor are fine, the complaint is around the selection of recirculating mode. That would indicate a control or damper issue.
Specific knowledge of the installed system would be very helpful, as compared to the general knowledge of automotive systems.

That's true. Some don't have specific knowledge but freely hand out advice just the same.

I would think Tractor A/C expertise on smaller machines would be hard to find...

Even the local dealer when we had one farmed it out as they had no one that could buy refrigerant and no A/C equipment.

Kind of like it was in the late 50's and early 60's when automotive A/C was exotic?

I have a cousin that all he does is Porsche/Audi Dealer A/C... he has gone many times to factory training with new tools needed just to stay current... also, Porsche owners tend to be very particular... that said it has provided tremendous job security.

I'll bet that he has fun checking those out on the road
Be more fun then just running a tractor out in the parking lot or in a field with someone waiting to use it.

I would be surprised if 20% of the small tractor dealerships had a certified AC tech on the full time payroll.
Most of them would likely run down to the auto parts store and pick up a can of 134 start adding and see what happens.

I wonder what your cousin thinks of the refrigerant in cars and trucks.
