I thought about how it would be cool to have a quality engine drive and have it serve as the multi-process power plant over and above stick until I saw that the MIG and TIG accessories cost nearly as much as stand alone machines!

yes the shaky hands do come in handy when welding mig ! lol. I can lay a really nice bead with our miller 200 & 250 migs. I like our syncrowave 350 for it;s tig. it is a early half inverter attempt using real transformers and speciliced control functions, it has square and adjustable freq setup and the high low feature is awsome for alum & SS. kind of puls width mudulation setup. (the boss always turns it off and I have to turn it back on! lol)

as for the componet expenses ya tig stuff gets expensive!!!

Our local miller dealer (albright welding & supply in Wooster) also has a import jap brand, which is kewl as shnit!) one unit for everything. single power sorce (inverter) which has stick tig and Mig hook ups. also you can install all sorts of add on boards to control pulse width modulation all way to band on/off times. with a 5 yr warrenty. but full on for everything was almost 5Grand!!!
