I have a NH T2320 which is basically a TC45. Something has gone awonk with the throttle linkage. The throttle handle is loose and wobbly, can't get the RPMs up to desired setting.

Anyone know the secret to accessing the linkage? Can I access it through the dash panel or do I need to get the cowling off below the steering wheel (and how?)?

Thanks!
Jim

I have a similar tractor and have an issue with the throtle cable freezing. Look near the front right of the unit. You will see where the cable attachs to the fuel sysetm. THere are adjustments that can be made tot he idle and cable throw here. You can move the throttle and look for the small canaleaver to move. THere is a backing nut that may have loosened up. I had to spray mine up good to prevent freezing.

To get to the throttle linkage, you have to remove the right side cowling below the steering wheel. There are two bolts directly below the steering wheel and then you have to raise the hood and remove two more on the right side "firewall." Once removed, the cowling will lift out and away from the steering column. The left side comes out the same way, but you have two bolts to remove on that side before you can remove it and expose the relays.

As you remove the right-side cowling, be careful of the key switch electrical wires. With the cowling removed, you will see the toggle at the bottom of the throttle lever and the cable. Then you can troubleshoot why your lever is so wobbly.

As Danocheese mentioned, sometimes the throttle can freeze. I had that recently happen on my tractor and had to manually operate the throttle above the injection pump to get my tractor to stay running when I started it. Once it ran for a few minutes, the throttle cable thawed and everything was normal.

From your description, what I think is wrong with your tractor is the nut that holds the cable to the lever mechanism is probably loose or completely off your lever. I don't believe your problem is down by the injector pump.

EDIT: Here's an illustration of the lever.

Jinman my head was a bit frooze when I typed the above reply. Could'nt remember what the pump was called. I guess that is what 22 inchs of snow and thirty MPH winds will do to a guy.

DO you pull yor cowel when you change the fuel filter or just snake your hand in ther?

Removing the cowl is of no help in changing the fuel filter.

Rick is right. The cowl will do you no good. Raising the hood might be helpful. My fuel filter is right out in the open and easily reached with either a strap wrench or a plier type filter wrench to just loosen the ring. I've never had any problem with it. Taking off the loader might make it easier, but I think I can have the filter out and replaced in the time it takes to remove the loader. Maybe my fiter ring wasn't as tight as some, but it has never been a problem.

I thought this thread was about a wobbly throttle handle/control?

Jinman, you ARE the man! :) Just what I needed. Now I need to wait for the high winds to settle down and for a few more degrees of temp. Neg wind chills here tonight, not much better tomorrow. But I digress.

I had taken off the two bolts below the steering wheel but didn't check under the cowling. THANKS again!

And Danocheese, thank you too! I may have to use your method to adjust throttle before I take it apart.
