On his TV show they show him tripping over the trucks trailer hitch. Brings back memories of when I left the hitch on after towing. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've no tv so haven't seen this guy before. I believe the clip was recorded from a UK tv programme called "It'll be all right on the night" showing tv out-takes so this is probably a compilation of out-takes from Bill Swain's fishing programme.

Thanks for putting me right on the name. I picked up the Swain from the web site I downloaded the clip from . . . .

Just so some people don't think this is the only thing he does; These are the out takes from his TV programs since 1970. At one time he was doing over 200 programs per year.

His profile is here: Bill Dance Profile

Not only that but having met him several times I can tell you he is a real gentleman.

Yeah, Mr. Dance is a good guy. I really enjoyed his fishing show when I was a kid. The thing I liked about him is that he always seemed genuinely excited to catch fish, no matter their size or species. Some of his best programs (in my opinion) involved taking a kid to catch some bream or catfish. Bass fishing is great, but it's hard to beat an afternoon of watching a kid catching bluegill with crickets on a cane pole.

Per his bio:

</font><font color="blue" class="small">(
Bill didn't attend the University of Tennessee, although he was a close friend of former coach Johnny Majors and helped convince a young hot quarterback prospect named Randy Sanders from signing a scholarship with the University of Alabama. Sanders is now UT's offensive coordinator. The "mesh" hats worn by Dance are available for sale in the University of Tennessee Bookstore. They are called "Bill Dance Hats."

So much for a Gator fan's knowledge... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Actually Dance's bio is now out of date, since Randy Sanders resigned as UT's offensive coordinator before the end of last year's disappointing season...

As a former fishing guide, I had to opportunity to run the camera boat for several TV fishing personalities. There is one item that is unique on Bill Dance's show that is very rare on others. Many times you will see Bill, make the cast, hook the fish, play the fish, land and release the catch with no breaks in the filming. Not every time, but frequently. Other personalities (not all but some) will have the entire sequence cut and spliced. This presents all sorts of opportunities to do some video enhancements. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
