Acetylene Tank Re-certification and Fill

Everything has gone up and it is good you were able to get it done...

I sure miss the days when my neighbor was superintendent of the local gas plant... he would take in my cylinders and refill at no charge!

I always got the same ones back which he had bought for me at cost when I graduated high school.

A friend just bought a 125 cf. Argon/co2 cylinder, $160 filled. I don't know what a c2h2 would be but I bet under $200.

Just as a follow-up...
I went in Thursday to pick up my tank...
I had received a bill from the company and thought that the tank would be in...
Well I found out that it was not it...
I went ahead a paid for the re-certification and fill...
They gave me another tank until my old tank comes back in...
I found out that acetylene tanks are sent out of state for re-certification...
That was a new one on me...
My supplier does certifications on all tanks except acetylene...
They also stated that it could take up to 2 months to get back...
Go figure...

Acetylene is different from other tanks due to the liquid and a absorbent filler material inside.

I've seen tanks that have exploded and the it is true the high pressure cylinders for Oxygen can take off like a rocket...

Acetylene actually explodes and whats left looks like a banana peel.
