That was TBN about 20 years ago. The politics only followed what's going on in society.

It was. I am glad TBN didn't go with the herd to regulate this as a Kubota or JD only site. It alienates more than 1/2 of the potential base of users.

Politics is always a pendulum. From 2017-2020 you couldn't go a day without hearing Cheeto or covfefe here. It appears some people long for those days and are big mad the pendulum swung...

I still think it was wise to allow one thread where people can debate ideas to means test what is the best. I think it's working great.

Some folks who can't remain civil should be banned.

TBN is no place to test out the god complex, it just turns into an echo chamber eventually....then there is no TBN.

Your gripe was a bait too...which had an assumption baked in. You knew that, right?

This place would get pretty boring if it was an echo chamber of similar ideas, which is kind of what that assumption was cutting through. People should not just quit because their echo chamber is not winning in the public square of ideals.

Imagine if a few old men only thought one Tractor was the best for EVERYONE. Then they got upset if everyone didn't also believe that one tractor was the best. Then when that idea gets challenged, they just leave. That is basically the mentality put forth here...
I was giving Muhammad feedback on his question. Wasn’t asking you a friggin thing. I didn’t say which way, but must be obvious to you also. No assumption, my observation. It’s answers like this , that just went argumentative, is what ruins the site.

Well you did tie your support of the site to a one sided political atmosphere, which you don't like...which I think is silly.

Give back what you get out...

I wasn’t advocating a one side only, I was observing that is what it’s become and rebuttals get shut down.

That would severely reduce participation and in reality Muhammad gets paid for all 'click throughs' anyway and always, that is how this works and don't think for a second, he isn't making revenue because he is and has been plus he charges a fee for 'paid advertisers'. Keep in mind that this is one of the few privately held websites left and I'm sure that Vertical Scope tendered an offer to him to purchase this website and he refused simply because he's making money on it. Also, while I never allude to it, I have a .com website with a forum attached but in my case that forum is for the benefit of my customers only and it's not a public participation forum.

In closing, one he's making money on this site, always has and 2, if he decides on a 'premium membership' it's nothing more than greed on his part and I would never join, in fact, I'd probably abstain from participating at all.

I don't ever get any ads anyway. I run a security program on the front end, plus DDG and Ad blocker and always will (at the suggestion of my IT).

Where I stand on the subject and while I've been here a long time, I can end that with a simple key stroke.

If I don't want to read a comment for whatever reason, I just put the commenter on ignore or just gloss over it.

Where I stand on this subject and will.

Have a nice day. I need to go bale hay anyway.

Finally, I have Snoobs or whatever his screen name is, on ignore and have for a while now because I have no desire to read his always argumentative drivel and if I have him on ignore, I can still read his comments if I so desire (at my total discretion of course and that feature is built into the Zen Foro web program by the way. Actually have 3 posters on ignore presently. Makes it much less stressful for me in reality. I don't employ Zen Foro on my .com website forum simply because it's a private (members only forum and participation is 100% at my discretion.

I get spammers just like here but every morning I take a gander at it and remove them and bar that particular web addy.

Because it's a private site and I never allude to my .com addy on here, no one needs to know what it is anyway.

In Muhamad's situation, everyone needs to know as that generates new posters and 'click through's' and additional revenue for him.

As a rule in this arena, only the forum owner receives financial compensation. Industry practice dictates that anyone else in that 'inner circle' receives nothing except some website perks. How it plays and if Muhammad is compensating them for their oversight, I'd be surprised as the industry norm is it's voluntary participation and why I don't ever do that on any of the forums I frequent, though I've been offered in the past, I always refuse. If I don't get compensated for my time, it don't happen.

I only participate in 3 forums actually. This one and my private forum and one firearm related forum and the only reason I'm on said forum is 2 of the moderators are personal friends of mine. I'm a big firearm collector and hunter and always have been. It just so happens to be a VS forum, something I normally don't participate in, ever but the mods on there make that an exception. I avoid VS owned forums like the plague for a number of reasons that I won't get into here.

The few adds I get don't bother me. I enjoy reading peoples opinions and the tips regarding tractors and implements.

The beauty of all this - I can switch it off at any time.

Would I pay a fee to belong - no.

Nobody is advocating for pay option only. But for those of us that for whatever reason have started have issues with the ads then having a premium option is a good idea. Those that want to get that can. Those that don’t can keep using the site as is. What am I missing?

What you are missing' is that you can already impose discretion on posters through the ignore feature that is built into all Zen Foro front ends. Anyone who uses that platform has it, built in. Either that or just don't read the comments. That method is all about being an adult more than anything else.
