I seem to doing allot of plumbing lately - I just completed ripping out the master bath in a house I purchased for my parents, both need the walk-in sit down type shower. I am going to hire out the drywall and tile work but I need to install a new shower faucet and hope someone can recommend a brand and model from personal experience. I am looking for an ADA approved setup similar to the attached pic but am open to suggestions. I'm hoping for a fixture with no plastic used in the fittings. I recently purchased a high end Delta residential grade tub spout and was very disappointed they are using plastic for the threaded water hookup, it cracked during installation and leaked like a sieve. If I need to go with commercial grade I would rather pay a couple hundred up front than have a leak and ruin $4000 worth of tile and drywall.

Delta makes several simpler set ups, the vertical bar we use is same size as a standard ada grab bar. The shower head has a long hose and fits to the grab bar with a handle on it that can be loosened and tightened by your palm or the back of your hand etc . No grabbing needed. Below is a link of some similar, we usually pay about $300 for a valve body and trim kit, and the grab bar / shower head.

These are commercial grade, scald guard etc etc, usually the faucet / shower handle is place near the edge of the shower or tub area and the grab bar / shower head is in the center. This allows a person to adjust the water temp and operate it with out being in the shower area itself. This set up was done differently per owners request to be used from the bench.

We install these for handicap use but as you can see they look nice and can be anywhere.

If you look carefully you can see the shower valve peeking out from behind the shower curtain.

521-UF - Adjustable Grab Bar 2-Setting Hand Shower

Is one sample of the shower head and hose and bar. The wall fitting just screws to same deal as your shower head normally, just place lower in my photos for wheel chair use. The valve body can be purchased at same time or separate or use existing one you have. Keep in mind DELTA shower valves can be have just he trim replace. (The parts you see) also delta is easy to get parts for repair if by some chance it needs it in your lifetime :)

Thanks Redlands, I like the fully functional grab bar as opposed to the frail shower head only bar. I need to complete the rough in this week so I will likely just buy the shower faucet and get the rest after the tile surround is complete.
