What can happen is, one of your parents wants the shower head up high, like a traditional shower, the other one may need to take a shower sitting down using a shower stool which is available everywhere, they are not expensive, their needs may different from each other.
I caught my short father standing on something (I don't remember what any more) to reach up so he could grab the shower head down from the hanger (no bar). I went out and bought him a holder thing they sell at Walgreens, it applies with stick on tape, and it is basically a holder for that shower head on the flexible hose. So then they had a high holder and a low holder, but better would have been two units.
If it is at all possible try to get a shower unit that has two hoses with two shower heads, one for up high and one for down low. Once that shower head is up high it is difficult for older people to unloosen it and adjust it to bring it down low. Again your parents might one day have different abilities, and thus it is just more safe to have the two hoses with two shower heads, one high and one low for their different needs and abilities. They sell them in France all over. A movable shower head that has an on/off switch right on the shower head handle is ideal. While seated with the shower head in their hand they can switch it off with the on/off button, hang it up, then get up and hopefully they remember to turn off the water at the faucet, but even if they don't nothing bad actually happens. Do you see how much easier that would be, than to have the shower head in your hand, it is blowing out water, and then you have to get up and turn off the faucet, it is good to get a shower head with an on/off switch right on the shower head itself. Also, they need the on/off button on the showerhead to turn it off so they can apply shampoo, which is a two handed job, to put soap on a washcloth etc, it is a PIA to have to go over to the wall and deal with the faucet, it is better to have that on/off swich right where they are holding onto the shower head.

But have a holder for the hand held shower head be very low, where I person can hang it back up again while seated.
