I would like to add 5 HP to my 855, any suggestions?

Thats a big increase, 20%. If you could figure out how to do it , it would probably affect your reliability. The rest of the tractor may not be up to handling the extra power. The 955 is a larger tractor frame with larger displacement engine. I believe it is 30 horsepower as opposed to 24 horsepower for the 855. If the 855 is not up to the task, maybe you should consider buying a 955 or other larger tractor.
I have an 855 and I find it to be well balanced. I always run out of traction or hydraulic lift capability before power.

I have a 60" Bush hog style cutter that it handles well but an 84" sounds like a very tall order for the 855. I believe the Deere site does have some implement compatibility info.

If your 3PH has the weight capacity and your lawn is groomed regularly, you should be able to operate an 84" mower. Befco recommends 20 to 50 HP (PTO) for their 84" unit. Your 855 has 20 PTO HP, so it should work. Worst case is you may have to make partial passes or go a bit slower if the grass is thick.
The Befco weighs 690#, so your 855 can handle the lift. If you don't have a loader, you'll definitely need front weights.

Wow.... 7' of mower on that tractor. At best I've run a 6' mower on an 8n.. it's pretty much at the max doing that.. and it is 27hp/23 pto hp ish.. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

The size mower your tractor will handle really depends on where you live. A 20HP tractor will power an 84" finish mower here in western Kansas easily if you mow twice a week in the spring. Same setup in Florida would not stand a chance at anytime.

Then explain to your wife why the gas grill tank is always empty !!
