add on bucket grapple

We're starting to think out loud here and we really like the looks of the ATI grapple. We are fixing to do some holiday shopping at Surplus Center to pick up on a 12 volt selector valve to power up the grapple with the use of the joystick on our New Holland. I would also like to slow down my Virnig grapple.

With a double acting hydraulic cylinder such as on this grapple, is it necessary to put a flow restrictor in each of the hydraulic hoses? Or, is restricting just one of the hoses sufficient?

Can a simple pinhole restrictor be used, or are the one way ball valve type needed?

Tom you may indeed use only one orifice to slow the cylinder down for both directions of travel. Both our T&T cylinders only have one in each.

TX, This works for me. It slows the grapple down both ways.
Flow Control Valve
Attachment is a picture of it on the tractor.
Just dial in the flow you want then lock down the set screw.

Could you elaborate on the selector valve and or provide a link for one? Since I'm pretty new to all this tractor stuff, I'm unfamiliar with the setup to actually operate the grapple cylinder. Thanks.
