Add on hydraulics

OBX, Do you have a set of remotes already?
If so another set can be added for a total of 2 sets.
Pricing isn't too bad on them either.

Can these diverter valves handle the hydraulic pressure that controls the curl function of the loader? I was thinking of putting the diverter directly in line with the hydraulic hoses that control the curl funtion of the bucket.
That is the normal way to connect the diverter.

Usually these diverters are used on the FEL control and I wasn't sure if there was a pressure difference in the FEL control hoses versus the hoses that actually control the hydraulics.
Not sure what you mean here since the diverter usually connects to the work ports of a loader valve spool. The diverter will have two outputs, one will go to one set of cylinders and the outher output will go to another set of cylinders. An electronic switch is the usual means for selecting which output will be selected. Pressure is not an issue if you have the diverter sized correctly for your tractor's hydraulic system.

A "third function" valve connects in series with the loader valve and is totally seperate from any loader valve spool functions. WR Long sells both diverters and "third function" valves.

I may be the only one using rear remotes to control a grapple but I must say that I am perfectly happy with that arrangement. If you have rear remotes or have some other excuse to get a set it makes a lot of sense to try them as a means of grapple control before investing in a diverter valve or solonoid. The cost of installing a set of rear remotes is less than the cost of adding a diverter and you get multiple functions out of it. It also requires zero skill to connect a grapple via rear remotes. Just measure for the right amount of hydraulic line and get the appropriate fittings attached. Then you just need a fist full of zip ties to secure the lines as you route them to the FEL.

I think some people are unhappy with the idea of taking your hand off the FEL controller to reach back for the rear remote control lever (usually on the right fender). I gotta say that after about a day or so of use it is no more difficult than shifting 4 on the floor. I used to look but it is totally automatic now. I cannot imagine there is even a half second lost in moving my hand. You can control the grapple just as finely as with a diverter too. I chickened out proving that yesterday when I was taking a movie of my grapple use and tried to shut the camera off by touching the shutter button with the grapple tooth....I gave up because I couldn't judge the distance closely enough, not because I couldn't control the grapple finely.

This is the way I've used my grapple until a month or two ago. I needed/wanted my rear remotes free for my hydraulic toplink and also another set for the other functions listed in my diverter thread.

Now that is a good reason to install a diverter (or a second set of remotes)
