New here, been reading on the boards for the past week. And I know I'm crazy, but it's a feature I'd like to have, lol.
I'm pickin' up an old 70's-era Monte Carlo 26" riding mower - I haven't managed to find any info online about them as yet. The motor is "not running" according to the sellers on E-Bay (AG & Industrial place FYI), so I'm figuring on dropping in a 10.5HP or so B&S engine, and somehow adding PTO for a tiller for a backyard project I'm doin' this summer. I can't really find any info on how to drive the transaxle, mower, and PTO all off the one engine shaft tho. Has anybody here done such a thing yet? I have a pretty good idea of what I need to do, but would like to see if somebody has already gone down that path and can offer help with it.
The main problem I'm havin' trouble with is the shaft drive of PTO. I know transaxle and the grass deck are both belt drive (I believe so, anyway), but how do I go from belt to shaft on the PTO? Use a transfer case from Surplus Center with a pulley on the input perhaps? Than keep it shaft-out for the tiller & whatever other accessories I may need down the road? I may also add on-board welder as another crazy project that would actually get use too. Thanks for any insight and help
