I'd just keep them neutral. If they are truly half moons or half circles they are by definition neutral as they just follow the orientation of the blade. They would be just little bites out of the blade with perhaps a half inch of undisturbed blade between them. Pretty much just like on the JD ripper photo. No particular rationale except that I think that would be the easiest to fabricate and I don't see the advantage of changing the orientation.

I attempted this late afternoon to re-attach the ripper tooth to the BH90-X and only got as far as setting the furthest pin (four holes) and partially setting the second pin through two holes (six holes total) which also in combination pins the BH90-X thumb. Even using my overhead hoist and a jiggle stick and an hour later, I ran out of daylight and dinner was getting close so I walked away. I did not during that time have the BH plumbed to the tractor-I will do so tomorrow and hopefully complete the hook up.
It's been quite some time since I first pinned the ripper tooth to the BH and in rememberence it only took about a half hour but I think I might have had the tractor plumbed to the BH. I took photos of the whole proceedure for future reference but since then suffered a computer crash and lost the file.
Am I doing this right by hanging the easier four hole pin and then the six hole pin? SHEESH!!!!!

Mounting the ripper was probably the single most difficult and frustrating task I've had to do with the tractor. We need to convince MIE to fabricate a quick attach system for the BH. I asked a friend who does heavy equipment maintenance how they line up pins an he shrugged his shoulders and said experience. But I know they also use tapered pins to line stuff up and that would help a lot. Maybe we can get MIE to fabricate or source some of those tapered pins and just include that cost in the ripper charge.

When I hook up my pin-on grapple I use a slightly smaller rod with a bevel ground on the end. Start it from the opposite side I want the pin to go in and it helps a lot. I made it out of a 7/8" anchor bolt I had laying around. My pins are 1". I cut the angled end off of the anchor bolt, but if you have close clearance you might want to use that short end..
If you have a pile of sand, you might stick it in there, that would probably help.

Good points. A quick coupler with one pin on a hook would be even easier but your homemade tapered pin is a good idea too. I ended up grinding a bevel on one end of my pins too but that just means I can get away with having the initial alignment off by maybe an 1/8 inch which is still way to fussy for lining up with the hydraulics. I didn't try your sand trick but as the ripper doesn't have a flat bottom, I'd think that would work better for the bucket than the ripper. I tried lashing the ripper to a car jack in order to have more fine control over height but that just fixed one of the three dimensions that need control when lining up close fitting pins. Bottom line is that the big boy excavators all use quick connect systems if the operator needs to switch implements in the field. We need something simple like that too.

I have it from MIE direct that this spring they will be offering a QA for the hoes.
No details as to when, or what hoes; I was discussing gen 2 ripper changes when they let it slip!

Thus I did not pursue it further, but did note it due to thinking there must be a reason they're telling me this as I ask for a ripper tooth?!

Hah. You are right but have you ever priced a spud wrench big enough to install a 1"+ size pin! A smaller one at my LWS was $80. Besides, those guys don't have to lift with one arm while lining stuff up with the other. But, I agree I was whining.
