Loader Adding a 2 spool valve

   / Adding a 2 spool valve #11
Thanks for the info strangranger. I would like some more in depth pics and info on how to plumb in the spool valve(s). I am still trying to figure out what is the pb on the fel valve and so forth. Thanks wykubota guy

"pb on the fel valve" refers to a portion or feature of the front end loader's valve control assembly - the valve control assembly itself is sometimes called a
"spool valve" assembly and is operated by the you via a hand lever.

Physically the pb or "Power Beyond" port is just another large theaded hole in the spool valve assembly. It is about a one inch diameter hole and since it is not ususally in use, it is usually plugged up by a large flatheaded bolt just there to seal the hole. Remove the bolt and replace it with a hose fitting to use the power beyond feature.
good luck, rScotty

leonz - I agree with StrangeRanger completely. It is straightforward to do. Here is another link with the results of my installation. I did mine slightly after StrangeRanger.

I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. Start with the two links you have and pm or post and we'll help you out.

I should point out that I am the least handy of any human being you could find. I'm not joking. About 8 years ago, when we lived in suburbia and moved into our first house, I put up a curtain rod that fell down. It has been an incredibly good experience learning by working on my tractor with the help of all the folks here. Right from my first 50 hr maintenance to putting the rear remotes in to replacing a oil pan I damaged ;-) and so on. Now in addition to that, I am doing a little bit of welding when I need to patch something up. Having a little farm and equipment and good folks to guide you through things does wonders. If I can do it, so can you.

Thanks Canoetrpr, I just need to get a spool valve setup and get it done. Will probably put the valve next to the fel valve and tie in everything right there. Thanks for the link it really helped.

wkkubotaguy, there are many reasons to plumb your remotes to the rear.

About the best is to put one more remote than you plan on for a hydraulic top link. I can't ever imagine not having one any more.

canoetrpr. I will put some remotes on the rear, I just will put the valve up front in easy reach and plumb everything from there. Thanks.

The plumbing is very straight forward. I knew nothing about the subject and was able to do it on my own w/ help from these forums.
In a nutshell the high pressure feed comes out of your pumps into the block valve. The block valve sends it on to the FEL valve. The FEL supplies the different cylinders on the loader. The PB valve on the FEL valve block sends the fluid on to your 3pt valve. From the 3pt valve it returns to the tanks to start its journey all over again.
It's just a continuous loop. While nothing is being used the fluids are basically just flowing along and returning to the tank. It's only when you activate a valve does the high pressure fluid get diverted from its normal course to act upon a cylinder.
This picture will help you as to which hose is what:

You don't have to have the return line go back to the block. It was easier for me to have it dump right into the filler lid above the 3pt hitch. If your page through that long thread I linked to before you'll find more info on that.
