Has anyone added a Curtis cab after owing their tractor for a few years? I am hoping to buy an L4610hst with loader this year, but can't afford the cab up front. I will be moving snow off of a steep 1000' drive next winter. I'm sure that after a few seasons of that I will be motivated to save up for a cab with heat. The cab would be less important for a Norther Vermont summer.

Driver,

I have added the curtis cab to my Kubota B7500. I had one on a John Deere also. When I bought the Kubota I also had to have another cab. This time I bought it will the extra heater! It does make the difference. I take the cab off in the summer. I have gotten the cabs with the soft sided doors. I didn't think the glass doors were worth another $1000!

jsace,

Thanks. Do you get much wind infiltration from the soft doors in the winter? Does the cab stay warm enough? And how hard is it to remove the cab for summer?

Driver,

You don't get much thru the doors. It's a fairly tight fit. I had the curtis cab on a 425 John Deere. It wasn't bad without the heater. You could do a lot of snowblowing in high wind without much problem. This will be my first winter with a heater in it. I had a old ford tractor with a soft cab and it stayed very cozy in there with just the engine heat. As far as removing the cab it's not that big of a deal. About 4 bolts of each side. The cab is about 200lbs so you need 2 guys. I was going to rig up a hoist to drive under hook up and raise up. The front is all glass with wiper (which you need if you use a snowblower!) the back and doors are soft sided. I called Curtis before I bought the soft sided to see if you could upgrade in the future to the metal doors. They said they could just send the doors and back glass for about the same as buying the metal cab in the first place. I feel the softsided worked very well on my john deere so that's why I went with the soft side for my new Kubota.
