2355 John Deere
I have an 80's model John Deere 2355. It's a great tractor but does not have a front end loader. Anyone have any thoughts about adding a front end loader to an older model tractor. Looking at the new tractors I hate to sell this one but I am hesitant to spend a lot on an old tractor.

You may come out okay if you can locate a used loader for your model tractor. If the loader is for a different model tractor you can find yourself needing extensive modifications to make it work. A new after market loader for your tractor could easily run $6000. Selling or trading your tractor would probably be a more practical way to go.

Loaders are best on 4-WD tractors.

Used loaders for those tractors could easily run $5000 or more and if not complete may be hard to to find all mounting hardware.

I actually might have a loader available in the near future as I have an extra one due to a insurance claim. Have a 2350 w/175 loader. Looking to see if I can get the spare 245 loader mounted up to the 2350. Then I would have matching loaders and attachments. I already think I'll be pricing mine in the $6000 range. No welds and and has skidsteer adapter. Just one of my projects I don't get to.

Keep an eye out on Tractorhouse.com. If you know the loader model they sometimes have just loaders for sale. Dealers and others will put them out there. No reason you can't have a loader on a two wheel drive tractor.

I run my loader all the time in 2wd, no problems if you know what you are doing.
