I'm ready to start my next tractor mod - this one I consider a safety item. I'm going to add a horn to my Grand L 3540HST. After reading through several posts here and on other tractor forums, there seems to be a possibility that my Grand L may already have the basic wiring in place. So, I'm reaching out here to all TBN'ers who have done this project on their Grand L non cab model to see if you were able to find this mystery wiring connection.

I plan on installing a Stebel compact air horn that I just ordered off the Internet. It's rated at 139db, so should be able to get everyone's attention if I need to. Here's a pic of the horn I ordered. They call it the "stealth" version because of the Matt Black finish. Should hide really nicely under the hood.

Is there a slip ring on the steering column, or are you thinking of wiring to a button on the dash?
I'm interested as I have a similar tractor and would like to add a very loud horn for the benefit of my neighbors banana-head dog who always seems to be on the verge of going under my tractor when it's moving. I like my neighbors, and I like their dog, even though he may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I would do the dash with a simple push botton. Super soaker water gun will train just one dog.

You mean the Grand L does NOT come with a Horn?

I suspect that adding it using the stock wiring would entail replacing the headlight/turn signal switch as that's where the horn button on the RTV500 is.

that is exactly how the Kioti works..Horn button in the middle.. I wonder if they are the same switch?. Here is what the Kioti looks like.

Baby Grand,

Not sure about the slip ring as I haven't taken a look at that yet. If there is no wiring there, I guess I'll be adding a push button on the dash. I know what you mean about the dogs and in my case, it's my own who thinks he needs to always be right out in front of me whenever I take the tractor over to our two park areas to mow. We also have small children in the neighborhood and they don't always pay much attention to their surroundings. I should be able to get their attention with the Stebel!

Will probably end up going that route - with the push button that is :). I don't own a super soaker.

I think the cab models do come with horns, but my Grand L 3540 did not come with one. I know that many companies try to reuse common components like wiring harnesses as its cheaper to make just one config even if you don't use all of it on a certain model.

On the Grand L models that have a horn, it's a separate push button. On my grand L, the turn signal activator is on the column like a car. It's integrated with the headlights switch (you twist the turn signal activator to turn on the headlights). The photo is a little blurry, but you can see the turn signal handle (black on the right of the steering column) with the word "Off" on it showing the headlight switch.
