Now that I have the Ol' Blue running smoothly I am ready to add the backhoe. It came with a Bradco subframe mounted backhoe. The problem is there are no rear remotes. This is what the local dealer said I shoud do. Take pressure from the FEL line at the block and then return to the tank vai the plug on the side of where you would attach a rear remote. Has anyone done this before and if so what are some of the specifics like what FEL line....IN or PB. and what is "Pressure Beyond". Anyway any help would be great. I guess I am trying to avoid buying a $600 rear remote. Thanks

I guess I don't understand...it came with a BH that wasn't hooked up? At any rate I'm thinking you need either a power beyond port like I have for my Woods BH or a rear remote that you would then need to hold open. Either way I'm afraid you prolly are going to have to open your wallet a bit.

skinnr,

You won't need remotes to run a backhoe for sure, but there a series of things necessary to do it without causing pain. From what I understand, the block that sends and receives oil to and from the loader valve has a valve on it that redirects the return of the loader valve to a plugged port on on that block. This is the "power beyond" port.

If you turn this valve before you have an open pathway, or if you block the pathway(for example by removing and capping the backhoe hydraulic lines), you will end up ruining something(because the pump will be deadheaded).

I just wanted to ensure you that it can be done, but be careful and conciencious in doing it. Others(betters!) will be more helpful in the details.

If others don't help, I can this weekend. I am out of town, and don't have access to the manual or the tractor.

Chris

Your dealer is exactly correct. interrupt the PB line FROM the loader valve that feeds oil back to the diverter block. Put couplers there so you can connect back the way it currently is when the hoe is off. NH and Ford compacts with backhoes have been plumbed this way for nearly 30 years.

Rick thats what I was thinking. I guess the next question is will the loader still work if I have disconnected the PB line at the diverter block. If I add a QC at the diverted block, unplugging the loader PB live, connecting the Backhoe line, will the loader still work. If that is correct does it matter what side the male and female QC go?

My post says interrupt the flow FROM the loader control valve, not TO it. Your loader will function normally. It doesn't matter which way the couplers are oriented, except putting the male tip on the distribution block connection will be easier to clean after not being connected while the hoe is installed. The female half on the new hose connected to the loader control valve's PB port MUST be connected to either the hoe or the distribution block AT ALL TIMES. Read that again as it is critical information and damage will result if you forget or ignore this.

I have a NH 757-C backhoe on my TC-45D. It's plumbed using all NH kits, so it's done correctly per the mfg. If you need more specifics or pics just let me know.

Thanks RickB & GATC35. So to get this correct I should put the male QC on the distribution block, the female QC on the line from the PB and then hook the female PB line to the backhoe to complete the circut? This will leave the male QC on the distribution block unattached when the hoe is on. ALWAYS have the PB line hooked to something, correct? Sorry if I am repeating things I just want to get this right and not damage anything. I think I got it, just checking.

I have a TC33D with a Bradco 408N Backhoe. If you need some pics just let me know and I can send them to you. On mine the quick connects are at the back of the tractor near where the backhoe is and when I have it removed I connect them to each other and they lay across the cover over the PTO.

skinnr,

On mine the female is on the PB hose from the loader valve, the dist. block and hose from backhoe are the male fitting. As RickB stated in post 6 it just makes them easier to clean. It really doesn't matter how you orient the fittings. You are correct in the connection scheme. Just remember when the PB hose is not connected to the dist. block the 3 pt hitch will be inop, also rear remotes if installed.

here is an old post discussing the same subject: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/.../132139-suggestions-attaching-my-backhoe.html

Are you the person who had the aft transmission housing cracked? How did that project work out?

If you need more info let me know.

On edit: yea yer correct on connections. after re-reading were saying the same thing. Sorry..no coffee yet.
