Power Beyond, [ PB ], is a port to supply fluid downstream and provide a high pressure outlet. When you use the PB, the cyl fluid only goes out the OUT port to tank.

A lot of people use a selector valve for the grapple and use the curl circuit to operate the grapple.

A thumb switch on the FEL handle sets and operates the grapple circuit.

I would not use a log splitter valve for a grapple.

I saw some other post about using this. I just don't know enough about how to connect & wire it all together. The valve that I posted the pic of isn't the exact prince valve that I was looking at but, it's close. The pic that Winston posted looks like a simple hook up. What would be wrong using that set up ? I'm open to suggestions cause I know nothing about this other than what I've been able to searck on the net. They also seem to connect these yanmar loaders different than on the newer tractors

I don't know if the valves that are used on the koyker loaders have this feature

Simple...count the number of hoses connected to the valve now:

If there is 6, then you do not have PB plumbed now but the valve may be equipped with it, look for a blank plug marked PB, BYD, or just B. Also get and post any other numbers/info on the valve.

If there is 7, then you have PB and it is currently plumbed.

I have 6 hoses. I located the info for the loader valve & it appears that I can have power beyond. There is a plug in the top of the valve at that location.I still don't know what this port would allow me to do If I were to connect a hose to it

after reading more info on the valve. If I remove the plug & install a hose to have power beyond , it will make my valve a closed center. I don't know I can run a closed center valve as, the fluid would have to have a return route so,I would have H P would operate my lift.I'm just up to date on this hydraulic stuff to know

That's basically what I did when I installed my grapple.... Except I pull to open and push to close (the lever moves the same direction as the grapple). Do whatever feels right for you.

My loader valve had power beyond, so it was easy to add another valve to the works. I scored a brand new single spool Prince valve on ebay. Works like a charm.

Sounds like a good idea. Did you use an inlet & outlet like an open center valve ? Once I come from my power beyond to the inlet port on this type valve do I have to also run an outlet or return line or just go from my power beyond to the inlet of the valve & 2 hoses out to the grapple ?

I used the electric set up JJ referred to. it works great

Seems simple enough to you guys. I can plumb an entire house but can't plumb a grapple:laughing:

I got the kit from Koyker, it had instructions that even I could follow.

Now if someone could explain how to add reomotes to my FX28 I'd be all set.

Describe what you have for hyd, and maybe some pictures. Perhaps someone can help.

I have the exact grapple. It works great and is very powerful. In fact - learn from my mistake - make sure the top of your bucket is strong enough or you'll bend the **** out of it like I did when clamping down on a bundle of bigger branches that extended past the ends of my bucket. I have the JD materials bucket and had read warnings about reinforcing the top - but was too anxious to test her out after I got all my plumbing done. Now I'll have to either use the log splitter as a press to push the top back in shape and/or cut the top off and weld in a thicker piece. Either way I plan to add some gussets inside the bucket to handle the force.

After reading KennyD & other's numerous posts about electric diverter valves I added one myself with downsized (1/4") hyd lines to handle my grapple or fel plow. Added this trigger grip from scorpion - so that when I press the trigger flow is diverted from dump/curl loader lines to open/close grapple - works great for one-handed operation.

The link to Hoye setup and also the Koyker setup are both done improperly to the best of my knowledge. Power beyond needs to be used nearly any time valves are used in series (this includes any loader/remote valve because the 3ph valve counts). The reason for this is the the out/tank port of nearly all hydraulic valves is not designed to withstand hydraulic pressure. You can almost always find a maximum return/tank/outlet pressure rating in the valve literature, usually less than 200 psi. As suggested by Hoye and with kenmacs 6 hose valve, when the 3ph is used, the loader/remote valve outlet sees hydraulic pressure, which eventually will cause failure. The power beyond feature is easily installed in most valves (though not splitter valves) and while it acts the same as the out, it is designed to carry pressure to the next valve, which is why PBYD is also called high pressure carryover. The OUT port than becomes just the fluid coming out the other end of the cylinder, and goes directly to tank. So, for valves in series, the PBYD goes to the next valve IN, then eventually to the 3ph valve, and all OUTs get tee'd together and go back to the tank port.
