STARCO Dual wheel HD - YouTube

watch this , Its the modern version of how duals were attached in the 80's the video after is an older tractor . this is how the wheels are added when you do not have an axle to mount a hub on . you would need a rim without the center to accomplish what you want

Thank you
I liked that video. I have been looking for something like that video for ideas.
That method looks to me like it would cause the tire rubber to hold them apart. It seems that could be an issue is a tire went flat.
If not for that one issue, I think this method would be the one I would use.

And this video shows a clamp on style
Why I like T-Rail Duals - YouTube

Thank you
for this video also.
I like that way better.

Though it seem the tires touching each other will still be an issue, the ease of taking off and putting on would minimize the problems of proper inflation.

I did not see what the clams are clamping to. Or I did not see the t-rail.

there is an EYE- bolt on the tractor rim the for the hook on the clamp.

I'm sure the tires are not touching if so its minor. the spacer in the outer rim is vital and will set the distance .

You posted the STARCO video and you said you had the T-rail.
Have you used the STARCO? Of the two Which do you like better?

i just was looking for a video to show how they work. The duals we ran back then when there were no 4wd tractors (except articulating kind) came with the tractors when they were purchased . I do not know what brand they were . We had 2 kinds of clamps the t rail clamp type and the other used a long bolt with a hook end that clamped on the tractor spin out rails . then later on the JD tractors they had eye bolts where the j hook clamped on. Can you build or possibly buy the outer rims and spacer you would need to mount your tires ?? probably. You will not get your current rims to work with out modification and some engineering.

THANK YOU to everyone for their thoughts and suggestions.

I now have an idea of my options.

I am going to probably wait out this year looking at swap meets. If I can find the parts I need, I will jump on them. If not, I will get the parts new.

The center hub will have to have the right bolt pattern and the right length. I need to measure for that to know what I am looking for if I come across those. I may decide to make them myself.
But I am leaning towards the T-rail.

I have an extra set of rear tires and wheels.
I was thinking about making my tractor a dually.
What would it take?
What would be the pros and cons.

My thoughts...
Pros more traction.
Cons have to take them off to load the tractor on a trailer.
What tractor???

On "most" smaller tractors, you should buy a spare axle to go with them, and read up on how to replace the one that's in your tractor now...
