Hi guys, I have a 1958 570 Cockshutt with a loader on it. It works on the original built in hydro pump. Now the problem is the pump leaks into the rear end of the tractor and all tho it has good pressure the loader operates very slowly. My under standing is that the old tractor pumps work on high pressure low flow, but I could be wrong.
So anyway, I am updating the power steering as it hasn't worked for some time and rather than put a new power steering pump in why not put a good hydraulic pump in to run the steering and the loader. I don't want a pump on the pto as I use it from time to time. The question is what are the advantages to mounting it on the end of the crankshaft opposed to fan belts under the hood. Thanks.

There have been several people that have mounted a pump on the crankshaft. If you have enough shaft on the front, just add a coupler and get a pump that will turn the correct direction.

You should probably get a splitter with priority flow for the steering, as you need to be able to steer at all times.

Surplus Center - 2/30 GPM PRINCE PRIORITY FLOW DIVIDER W/RELIEF

2 GPM will always go to the steering and the rest will go to the rest of the hyd circuit.
