My dad is reaching an age where he is unable to do some of the things he used to do, but he still tries anyway. He mows about 10 acres, so in the fall, he has a lot of cleanup with black walnuts, twigs, leaves, etc. He has been using a small leaf rake behind a garden tractor, but that is pretty hard to manually dump. I acquired a John Deere TC125 turf sweeper with hydraulic motor and hydraulic dump. If I can make this work on his Ford 1920, it will be much easier for him. Currently his 1920 only has hydraulics in the front for the 7108 loader. I want to add rear remotes. The sweeper needs a circuit to power a unidirectional motor, and a second circuit for the single-action dump cylinder. The New Holland dealer says the remote kit is no longer available, but the $1000+ is out of my practical range anyway. I can get a 2 spool Prince valve in the $250 range or less, and maybe $100 more for hoses and fittings. Can I tee into the manifold mid-frame that supplies the loader circuits? I do not need to run the loader and sweeper simultaneously, but really do not want to disconnect the loader to use the sweeper. I think he might not be able to hook the loader back up with the bucket in the air. I also think removing the loader is not a good option as he likely could not re-install it without help. I live 565 miles away, so not much help from me. If teeing into the loader supplies is OK, then I need to determine the correct valves. I find it all very confusing. I believe I need a motor spool for the motor so it will not get beat up every time the circuit is shut off. I need a detent on that valve so it will latch in the on position when in use. For the dump cylinder, the John Deere only routes a single hydraulic line as the cylinder is single-action (power up, gravity down). I am confused about open center vs. closed center, and whether or not I need power-beyond in the new valves for this setup. I can pick up "log splitter" valves pretty inexpensively as well. Can I make these work? This sweeper is only used in the fall for cleanup and dad has no other rear implements that need hydraulics, so I do not want to invest more than necessary. Any advice appreciated.

You need an open center two spool power beyond style valve to run the sweeper functions. Remove the tube that returns power beyond flow from your loader control valve to the diverter or, remove the tube leading from the diverter to the three point hitch valve. Connect either oil supply to the in port of your new valve. Connect the PB port of your new valve to the other component of the tube you removed from the tractor; either the diverter in the first scenario or the 3PT hitch valve in scenario #2. Connect the return port of the new valve to the plug in the cover plate of the 3PT valve located on the RH side of the hitch cover near where the 3PT lever enters the valve. Do not buy a cheap two spool valve with no power beyond capability and only pressure and return ports in addition to the 4 work ports.

RickB,

Thanks for the helpful response. This is exactly the information I was looking for. i will look into the Prince valves with Power Beyond. BTW, we had a Ford 4000 on the farm. Nice tractor. We also had a 861 Powermaster and an 8N with Hi/Low. We put a lot of work hours on these tractors over the years.

BTW, Love the tagline!

My 1920 has a power beyond port in the FEL valve. It's the only line going into the spool valve that's not hard plumbed. This line has a quick disconnect under the floorboard by the brake pedal. If your father's is the same the only thing you will have to add is a port in the rear. This will give you a single remote but with the spool valve as mentioned above it should make it a straightforward addition.

I'm interested on how things work out for you. Might do the same with my 1920. Gotta get my Skid Steer Quick Attach from Titan on first.

Only if the 1920 is/was fitted with a backhoe. Otherwise the loader valve has 3 steel tubes connecting it to the diverter valve.

I am looking at a 1920 with the 7108 loader, but no auxiliary ports. Will the Prince valve which provides power beyond allow me to have dual rear remotes if I add a spliiter into the plumbing?
