Additional Hydraulic SCV's and Power Beyond

/ Additional Hydraulic SCV's and Power Beyond #11
I have been shopping for a new tractor, and have talked to a bunch of dealers. Several of the dealers (mostly JD dealers) told me that if I ran the feed for my chipper off of an SCV, it would overheat and break something, and I should run it on a power beyond circuit. Then, at several dealers (Massey Ferguson and Kubota), I was told that there was no need for a power beyond, as the only restriction with the SCV was in the quick connect, and I could run it wide open with no problem. I talked to the Kubota mechanic everyone says is the best, and he agreed that I could run full out of the SCV. Does anyone have any good advice?

I have a 3rd function on My tractor it ran about 700 for the install and it's Kubota. I believe the WR Long runs about the same price wise. I just thought the Kubota looked cleaner. I also had two rear remote installed and that ran about 1200.

I do NOT agree with the JD dealers assessment. BUT: running it off of a power beyond circuit with keep you from having to bungee-cord the handle down to keep the flow going.

The rule of thumb as I understand it is, if the device has its own control valve on the implement (backhoe, splitter), run it off the power beyond circuit. Otherwise, run it off a rear remote or SCV (top 'n tilt, blade hydraulics, etc.), since you will need the valve to control the implement.

I have a 3240cab and would love to see some pictures showing which line is the pb line. Also would be nice to see where and how the electric hydraulic valve is mounted.

I have all the individual parts to do a true 3rd function but sill have no clue which line to tap into.

Any pictures would be greatly appreciated. :)

You're not the only one Mark. Seems pictorial diagrams are rare. I'm new to this game and have never had so much frustration in finding info that this dummy can understand. After reading other posts in this thread, it sure doesn't seem to help that there are conflicting opinions from dealers out there. Terminology differences do not help in the newbies learning curve as well. The link to an ad for new tractors in a technical question thread is sure to make me run to buy from that dealer. I know this stuff is not rocket science, I just don't have the knowledge of it all,, yet.

I'm with you, I do understand what the folks are saying about the PB port and all that but I HAVE NO IDEA which line is the PB line. I have the cab tractor and don't really want to disassemble the inside of the cab to see the PB port on the control valve. I also don't understand how to "TAP INTO THE LINE" and it be done the right way. I sure wish someone would crawl under there 3240 and take a couple of pics showing which line is the PB line and how it was tapped into. As for the rest of the 3rd function hook-up I have everything waiting to be hooked up.

Please, anyone have any pics for me and Milton?

The hook up is very simple, once someone showed me.:D My PB hose is marked with green tape. The solenoid valve simply connects in series with that hose.

If I recall the 3 hoses are feed, return and tank. Although dont ask me what the **** the difference is between return and the tank. Aren't they all dumping tothe same place??
