My 55 years of engine experience has shown that if you clean a gunked up , worn out engine, the excessive bearing and ring clearances start showing up and do what they do. The gunk just fills in the excessive clearances, same as a lot of the heavy/thick oil additives.

So sludge was the only thing keeping it from knocking and rattling.


more than likely but it probably would have done another 200k as alot of those engines were reknowned for doing about 500k easily.

Im sorry to hear that it didn't work for you, I have washed many engines since then, and have never had a problem yet.
I think the trick is to just let the engine run at an idle, DO NOT rev them up during the wash process, that's what I was told to do, and just for 10 minutes.

yeah i ran it at idle for 10 or so minutes as they suggest....DO NOT REV OR LOAD ENGINE WHILE CLEANER IN USE. if it did that after 10 min idling i would hate to see what it did with a quick burn around the block!!

correct. removing the only thing keeping the clearances realistic so it dont rattle or leak. having only 300k on it i was not worried about it doing that but now am very cautious, run oil for few hrs and change...repeat a few times including filter change and leave at that.
