I have noticed that my pedal will return to neutral when removing my foot after going reverse. When going in forward I have to "blip" the pedal or tap reverse to get it to neutral. Is there an easy way to adjust the pedal. In looking at the linkage I see a spring that is supposed to pull the pedal to neutral no matter which way the pedal is depressed. There appears to be an adjusting nut where the linkage goes thru the floorboard but I hesitate to mess with anything unless I know what I'm doing. All linkages are lubed as is the zerk for the pedal. I can live with this but really would like it to go to neutral by itself. Any thoughts/Suggestions?

Mine does the same. I starting to "tap" reverse, never thinking about a real solution. Thanks for bringing it up.

Carefully look over the linkage and the damper (it's a viscous piston in a tube sort of deal which controls the rate of return of the pedal to center). On my old B2920, some of the linkage connecting to the damper got sticky and was hanging up the pedal from centering, but only from forward. Took me a few tries to find the right spot to lube before the problem went away. Unfortunately I don't remember the details, other than it was a bit of an obscure location and not something I could see right away. Once I did get lube into the right spot it solved the problem.

If this was an adjustment issue, the pedal would not stay centered even after you tweak it with your foot (i.e., it would still snap back to it's own center). So I think you are right to not tweak the adjuster just yet. Keep looking for places that need a shot of lube, and this time focus on the linkage attached to the damper.

Depending on the amount of hrs. on the machine when I had one start doing that I found the bushings were warn on the linkage creating to much space not bringing it all the way back to center.

Well, back under the tractor and see if there is something else I can lube. Just got through cleaning up some ice broken trees and while the pedal won't go to neutral I can work with it. I was filling a small borrow pit with logs and while inching forward to the edge I sure wish it would return to neutral. I'm glad it has good brakes!

Well, I went out last night and lubed everything that was remotely related to the hst pedal and it still doesn't quite return to neutral. I even lubed, using a syringe, the rubber covered plunger thing that slows the return of the pedal. Man there is no room for working on that puppy! Like I said, I can live with having to blip the pedal to get it in neutral after going forward. Guess it is the nature of the beast.

I lave a MX 5100 and the pedal sticking has turned into a major problem. In the middle of all this linkage is a safety switch which won't permit the tractor to start if it is not centered. About once a month my switch hangs up and the tractor won't start. My dealer told me to spray the switch with wd40. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. It happened this weekend and my tractor has been down for 3 days. I have to call the dealer tomorrow. This is really starting to aggravate me. The first time I laid eyes on all that lineage I thought omg this is going to be a problem. I just lost 3 days of production because of a safety switch. If this keeps happening I am going to have to figure out how to wire around the safety switch. I don't like to do that but this is costing me time and money.

I'd keep after it, or get the dealer to take a look. It definitely should return to center.

Can you get under there and watch the linkage (engine off of course) while someone actuates the treadle in both directions? If it hangs up coming from forward but not from reverse, that suggests to me that there is still one place along the linkage travel where lube might not be getting to. Or at least something is different about the two opposite motions.

Next step in the process is to remove the damper thing and see if that allows the pedal to go to neutral. Hopefully will be able to get to that yet this week. If that works I'll take the offending part back to the dealer and swap it out under warranty. Will advise

An old thread . . . my 2013 B3350 HSDC is starting to do the same thing. Anyone come up with a definitive answer yet? I'll try the lube thing (SuperLube spray, there's no way I'd use WD-40 on it, as it gums up as it dries and would ultimately make things worse.

Looked all through the service manual and cannot find any reference to an adjustment for the HST pedal.
