Hey Guys,

I've a B1750 that has a few issues, but most are pretty easy to make right.

The two that concern me the most are the FEL and Hydro pedal.

The FEL lever doesn't seem to return to center. If I let go of it, sometimes it wants to continue in what ever direction I was last using.
The same thing is happening with the drive pedal, like a return spring isn't attached anymore. I'm not even sure where a return spring would go.

Both of these situations are a bit dangerous, especially the drive.

Do anyone have an article or video that would address these issues or otherwise be helpful?

Thanks!

Heres HST pedal adjust info for a similar early model kubota. I dont know if its the same but its probably pretty close. Also a parts diagram pdf for your tractor. You can learn a lot by studying the parts diagrams.

Re the loader lever. I think centering and detent problems are usually related to the spool cap/detent assemblies at the bottom end of the loader control. (Mine are pictured in this pic I posted long ago). The caps can fill with ice, dirt, rust and other assorted crud that will prevent free movement or even cause them to stick in position. If you don't get a better suggestion I would remove the spool/detent assembly and give it a clean. Be careful of a couple of small ball bearings and springs in there, otherwise they are pretty simple, and not under any oil pressure (as long as you have moved the lever all around to relieve any pressure.)

Yours may look different.

You'll find lots of useful stuff here....

Kubotabooks.com

Many older kubotas use common parts so mechanical info is often similar across a number of models. However, read the home page on that site carefully.

Another diagram of the linkages. (Again from a B6200 but probably very similar.).

Remove the cap on the bottom of the valve, and inspect the centering springs. Check the nut that holds the springs on and tighten. Both spools will have centering springs.

If water has entered the cap and set awhile, you may have rust and maybe weak springs.

Add some water proof grease to the spring assembly.

Make sure the weep hole is at the bottom so any water can drain,

I took the cap off my Up/Down side tonight. it as filled with rusty, muddy, gunk. I'll have to clean it out tomorrow.
The cap also captures two small springs inside little nuts. Is there supposed to be a ball bearing in there as well?

One of the ears of the spacer is broken off, but the main body of the spacer is intact. Also, the cap does not have any kind of weep hole drilled in it. Should I drill one?

I think a lot of my problem is also that the lever linkage is all loose and worn. I can move the stick 5 inches in about any direction before it actually puts movement on a spool. Is there a rebuild kit for these?

I just got brave.

I took the whole thing apart, pulling the spools all of the way out of the valve body. Everything looked pretty good.
I cleaned up the nastiness on the end of the spools, all around the centering springs. I got new springs and detents to go into the caps, and after cleaning that all up and reassembling, it seems to do exactly as it's supposed to do. So, I'll call that a victory.

I still need to fix the drive pedal. I had the pressure washer out today, so I sprayed everything down. Hopefully, tomorrow when it's light again, I'll have an opportunity to get it all sorted out.
