I'd like to adjust my wheel width a little wider on my YT359 just for stability on my hilly property. I can figure out the wheel adjustment, but how do you folks mount/unmount a rear wheel filled with ballast? I've got a 2 post lift, just not sure how I'd get a 600+ lb tire back on the tractor.

As long as you keep them mostly upright and carefully roll them around it's not an issue. I've moved many around just have plenty of room to work and go slow, if it starts to go you'll have to let it go. Once your going back on I'll usually use a bar on the wheel studs to line up the wheel and just slowly walk it on using the jack to adjust the tractors height to the wheel.

Do as LouNY says, the only thing I can add is too find a stout friend to help. Loaded tires are a two man job.

Jack the tractor up just far enough to get the tire off the ground a hair. Slow and steady and don't let the tire fall over.

Get a neighbor with a tractor to help.

Thanks!

I do have a second tractor with a FEL, but its got a bucket and no SSQA. I guess if a wheel fell over I could stand it back up with the other tractor.

So when installing I just need to adjust the tractor to the wheel, not the wheel to the tractor.

Yep, also the same when removing it. After removing the lug bolts/nuts just push and pull it to walk it off the studs and out to where you can lean it up to continue the work. I use the front wheel to hold the rears when I'm doing so.
Here is my Branson 8050 with both rears and the center sections off in preparation to swap the centers in from being in the outer position. Both of the rear tires are leaning up against the front tires.

I used my gantry crane.
An engine hoist might work depending on tire size.

Also note that on some machines, reversing the wheel to achieve a wider stance can reduce axle load capacity. Usually not a problem in most applications, but something of which to be aware.

I removed all four wheels and rims for new treads a few years ago completely by myself. Jack stands and a floor jack were just fine.
If I dropped a loaded wheel I knew I was screwed!!! Adjusted the height with the floor jack as needed. Worked perfectly.
Don’t drop a wheel was priority number one!!!

If it falls from vertical, get out of the way fast or it will crush your foot or worse. I use a heavy duty engine hoist or call my ag tire man and he uses the hoist on his truck to move them. No ballast in mine but mine are cast centers.
