Adult hand brush cutter?????

I bought one of those as well OP, waste of money in my opinion. Mine was bent and dull in about ten minutes, I tried sharpening it and then another ten minutes and it was dull again, it's been hanging in my shed for a couple of years. I broke down and bought a Honda 4 stroke verattach with the trimmer head, brush cutter head, pole saw head and a 42 inch extention, man that thing works good..

I have several different kinds and they bend all to pieces before they dull. It would be fine for a child, but can't imagine making something that flimsy. I know they make all sorts of gas and electric cutters which I have. Maybe I'll try an antique store!

Here's what to look for. :)

Just my 2 cents but but those cutters are and get tiring after a few minutes but when I was growing up my Dad made me cut areas like that with a sythe that you would mow hay with. It worked ok just have to keep it sharp and he told me it was to get my exercise.
Same here, made some good muscles. Still have it, train the young'uns on it. For a few hours.

I cut brush like this, too large and hilly for a weedeater. <snip>View attachment 563673

Now I cut areas like that with a Stihl Polycut head.

on a Stihl FS90 in Mississippi and a Stihl FS250 in Virginia (got to swap them around).

After the boys learned the scythe they really appreciated the trimmer :)

/edit - for your situation I'd use either goats or glyphosate followed by heavy seeding of a short ground cover.

I agree, the serrated blade will make one work very hard. I put a longer handle on mine and use it like a sweep. Letting the serrations catch the brush like a saw. An angle grinder does well to sharpen it.

I bought a blade similar to this for my string trimmer and turned it into a hand held mini-bush hog. Eats through almost anything that grows.

I also have a Stihl FS 56 with string head and a metal saw blade that saw blade is one heck of thing it doesn't care what it hits I have cut up about 1" brush with it and also a few rocks but over all I use that very little once I see what it can do to dangerous for anybody within 30' of you. Nice idea but not practical.

On a power cutter a coarse toothed saw blade beats everything.
Grasses and weeds no problem and with technique you can drop up to 1.5" saplings.

Just make sure the dog is tied up! (a neighbor now has a 3 legged dog)

I have one of those but this stuff is too large. I'm careful not to hit a tree stump or rock. They're kept sharp, I straighten them every few minutes, when they break I can get a free replacement.
I thought about fabricating my own using a lawn mower blade and 1/4" steel.

I don't know what you have, but it can't be the Power Scythe. This tool resembles a heavy duty hedge trimmer or a mini sickle bar mower. The only way I can think of damaging it would be to feed it a piece of rebar or a metal fence post.
