Bird i also have one of those small sears compressors, i bought it to run a nail gun when i started building my pole barn. When i got caryed away nailing boards on it got hot and quit, i fig. i did it in but it cooled down and went back to working. It must have some kind of protection build in to shut it down when it gets over worked. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Is an oil-less compressor a no go? I did look at one on the Craftsman site that was a pancake style for $100. Keep in mind it will get very little use. It is nice and small and that is what caught my eye.

I wouldn't worry much about oil-less for what you say your usage will be. Mine is used every now-and-again and I've never had any issues with it. Nice to pick it up, carry it to your project and not worry about an oil leak, level, etc.

Get a pancake compressor. Less than 100 bucks.. usually 2 hp, 4 gallon.. Work great. I've even use done of those and a spair air tank to paint a couple tractors.. etc.

I got a cheapo one from Homier for exactly same reasons as yourself. Needs to be warm though or the fuse will blow. So in the winter we had to bring it inside for the night for it to work.

I bought a nice little portable Porter cable 3.5 gallon pancake compressor for my nail guns when i'm doing a project somewere. It works great and it will easily keep up wiht two roofing nailers and a framing nailer going at the same time so i think it will handle the screen blowing and tire filling.

Just want to say thanks Bird! I went and bought the compressor you linked me to. You can't beat it for $99. While I was in Sears, the salesman told me that they have been selling them like crazy... there were two other guys that had them in their shopping carts! I hooked it up and it works great! I would recommend it to anyone!

Thanks again Bird.

Hope yours holds up as well as mine has. I've been using mine this morning to clean off two lawnmowers and a string trimmer after my grandson finished mowing. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
