Advice on buying hydraulic cyclinder repair seal

That is how they say "NO" to your job. That tactic is used in other industries, too.

I use Hercules Hydraulics, as others have reported.

Never call on the phone for a quote on a "repack".......they'll always figure on the high side ......let's face it, according to the customer they all need only a set of seals.......RIGHT..!!

....so let's quote the job at higher than the cost of an all-new custom cylinder made from scratch.....

I'm not saying it's right to gouge anybody.....it just is unreasonable to call on the phone and demand prices to a job that is unknown and still together and put their feet to the fire. It's not rocket science

More often than not cylinder rebuilds (done the right way) demand more than just a seal kit. I see it and live this every single working day. Most phone shoppers are a waste of valuable time, but anyone who goes out of their way to come in will get the red carpet treatment, a fair price and a garrantee

BTW, all-new custom quality cylinders made from scratch are not cheap.....(unless quoted junk from overseas)

Don't get me wrong. It is OK to say "no" by throwing out an absurdly high price. Especially to phone-callers
who are of questionable seriousness. Folks legitimately DO want some idea of what something will cost, and
service providers don't want to waste valuable time. I see both sides.
